I am honoured to accept the invitation of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Welfare, UN DESA, to speak at the 2025 International Mayors Forum in Toyota City, Japan.
Cities are the engines that drive sustainable growth, and the Mayors are at the front line of development
I will discuss our experiences implementing multi-level governance to
achieve the development goals.
I will share how Nigeria has supported other government tiers, aligning with the national development plans, and our multi-level engagement strategies for our voluntary local review.
At the forum’s side events section, I will speak on how national-level engagement can best support local governments in addressing water and sanitation challenges, drawing on my experience working with communities across Nigeria’s North Central region.
Most importantly, connecting with partners to support my community engagement initiatives in the North Central region.
Successful localization in individual countries is essential to effectively implementing the global agenda.
