Today, I received the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association (NUNSA) on a courtesy visit, led by its National President, Gemaliura Emmanuel Obadiah

As a Registered Nurse, it was a pleasure to host these bright and passionate students from across our tertiary institutions who are already contributing meaningfully to the profession and serving as voices for positive change.

We had engaging discussions about their forthcoming National Convention in April, in Abuja and listened to some of the challenges confronting nursing students and practitioners in Nigeria. I encouraged them to rise as the change they desire for the profession and to advocate for the reforms needed to elevate nursing in Nigeria to the standards enjoyed by their counterparts abroad.

While reaffirming Mr. President’s commitment to the welfare of the nation’s workforce, I reminded them that “japa” is not the solution, now more than ever, Nigeria needs their skills and services to meet the healthcare needs of our people.
