Report on the Launch of the Safe Nigeria Initiative Participation

I attended the launch of the Safe Nigeria Initiative Humanitarian Skills Programme: Youth Empowerment for Peace and Resilience, reaffirming the Presidency’s commitment to inclusive community-based solutions to insecurity.

The programme, launched by the Office of the SSA to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Delu Bulus Yakubu, in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), is a nationwide non-kinetic intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda. It focuses on addressing insecurity by tackling its root causes poverty, unemployment, and youth exclusion.

My presence underscored the importance of grassroots engagement, particularly in the North Central region, where community participation is critical to peacebuilding and resilience. The initiative’s emphasis on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and psychosocial guidance aligns with her mandate of strengthening trust, inclusion, and dialogue between government and local communities.

The Safe Nigeria Initiative targets vulnerable youths across the 36 states and the FCT, integrating humanitarian action with national security objectives to reduce crime, empower young people, and promote sustainable livelihoods. The collaboration of the presidential community engagement team further reinforces a whole-of-government approach that places communities at the centre of Nigeria’s peace and development efforts.
