The festive season is a time of joy, reflection, and sharing. It is a period when communities come together to celebrate unity and love. However, for many underserved communities and vulnerable individuals, the season often highlights the daily struggles of food insecurity and limited resources. Recognizing this, my office coordinated the distribution of the federal government food security palliative to some of the most underserved and vulnerable communities across the North Central region of Nigeria, to ensure that no one is left behind.
This intervention was not just about providing food—it was about delivering hope, reaffirming our shared humanity, and ensuring that even in the most challenging times, the less privileged feel the warmth of national care and support.
In Niger State, the Central IDP Camp in Gwada Community was a focal point. Displaced families who have endured hardship and uncertainty found solace in the gesture, which provided them not only with food but also with a renewed sense of hope and belonging.
In Benue State, we extended the palliative to communities such as Tse Shange, Usar, Ashawa, Etulo, Ukpa Ainu, and Etta. These communities, rich in culture and resilience, have faced challenges over the years, and this support served as a reminder that they are not forgotten.
In Nasarawa State, we reached out to multiple communities, including Gauta, Saura, Angwan Jarmai, Angwan Lambu, and Jigwada, Sabongari. These areas, often grappling with limited resources, witnessed the joy of receiving much-needed relief. Families expressed heartfelt gratitude as the intervention helped brighten their festive celebrations.
The intervention reached Kogi State, where Eika Ohizenyi Community was a beneficiary. The distribution there symbolized our commitment to touching every corner of the North Central region, ensuring that even the smallest communities feel the impact of government initiatives.
In Plateau State, Pushit Community received the palliative, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and solidarity that binds us as Nigerians. Similarly, in Kwara State, Elejiko Community was uplifted by this initiative, showcasing the Federal Government’s resolve to address food insecurity in all its forms.
Over 120 Citizens’ Assembly volunteers across North Central, who have passionately reported local community issues and advocated for government interventions, were not left out. Their dedication and efforts have been instrumental in identifying and reaching the most vulnerable communities.
This palliative distribution was more than just the delivery of food—it was a profound expression of our collective responsibility to care for one another. It was a message to every Nigerian that, no matter the challenges, the government is committed to ensuring that every citizen has a reason to smile, especially during the festive season.
As we reflect on this impactful exercise, we are reminded of the importance of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility in nation-building. The smiles on the faces of beneficiaries, the relief in the eyes of parents, and the joy of children during this season inspire us to do more.
To every beneficiary community, this is just the beginning. Together, we will continue building stronger, more inclusive, and more supportive communities across Nigeria.
This initiative was made possible through the steadfast commitment and visionary leadership of His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, We sincerely appreciate his dedication to prioritizing food security and bringing this transformative intervention to life.
We also thank all stakeholders, volunteers, and community leaders who made this distribution possible. Your dedication and commitment to serving humanity have truly made a difference
