Dr. Mrs. Abiodun Essiet Concludes Peace and Assessment Mission in Nasarawa LGA

Dr. Mrs. Abiodun Essiet, PhD, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, has concluded her peace and solidarity mission to Nasarawa Local Government Area following an on-the-spot assessment of damages caused by the recent crises affecting several communities.

Her visit took her across Udegen Kasa, Gidan Ogiri (Ada Ogiri), Akweya Baka, Apura Adagba, and Udenin Gida, where she engaged directly with residents and community leaders to evaluate the extent of destruction and understand their immediate humanitarian needs.

As part of her engagement, Dr. Essiet also visited the Osu Ajiri, HRH Suleiman Ahmed Eko, where discussions focused on strengthening unity, deepening dialogue, and promoting sustainable peace across the affected areas.

Earlier, she held a comprehensive dialogue session with stakeholders, including youths and women from the affected communities. During these interactions, residents openly shared their grievances and concerns. Through her intervention, the communities collectively agreed to embrace peace and work towards harmonious coexistence.

Dr. Essiet emphasized the need for sustained peace-building efforts and charged security agencies to remain vigilant in safeguarding lives and property. She also called for necessary measures to ensure the safe return of displaced persons to their communities.

The delegation accompanying her included the Sole Administrator of Udege Area Administrative Council, Commondo Yahaya Owuna; the Deputy Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Area; Chun Nku (Chief of Nku), among other key stakeholders.

The mission forms part of the broader efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, aimed at strengthening security, supporting relief interventions, enhancing community engagement, and promoting peaceful coexistence in crisis-affected areas.

Residents and community leaders commended the timely visit and called for sustained government support towards rehabilitation, recovery, and the restoration of lasting peace in the affected communities.
