U.S. Embassy Delegation Visits Dr. Abiodun Essiet

Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), received a delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria at her office. The delegation was led by the Deputy Political Counselor, Dianna Palequin, alongside the Human Rights Officer and Dave Young.

Discussions during the meeting focused on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing community engagement efforts through Dr. Essiet’s office—particularly in promoting community peace, strengthening social cohesion across the Middle Belt, and the urgent need to deepen collaboration in tackling persistent security challenges affecting communities in the region.

The U.S. delegation expressed strong interest in understanding the root causes of insecurity in the Middle Belt and supporting initiatives aimed at mitigating the crisis while fostering unity and peaceful coexistence.

Dr. Essiet appreciated the U.S. Embassy’s continued commitment to peacebuilding in Nigeria and reiterated the government’s dedication to achieving lasting stability and development for all communities.
