Today, I am in Kogi State alongside Directors from the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Controller of Works, Kogi State, engineers’ representatives, and members of the press to commission and inspect several ongoing road projects across the state. This exercise forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which is focused on delivering durable, safe, and high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of Nigerians.

The projects inspected include the Special Repairs of the Lokoja–Gamaja Road CH5+B25 (Dual) with rigid pavement; the dualisation of the Abuja–Lokoja Road, Section IV (Koton Karfi) in Lokoja; the construction and rehabilitation of the Lokoja–Obajana–Kabba–Ilorin Road, Section II; the reconstruction of existing pavement and completion of the additional pavement on the dualisation of the Abuja–Lokoja Highway, Section III (CH.82+000 – CH.131+362), covering the Abaji–Koton Karfe Road; as well as the commissioning of the Special Intervention project addressing flood-related washout embankments between Km 27+900 and Km 39+750 along the Itobe–Ayingba Road.

Our objective is to document the level of progress and the quality of work being delivered by the various contractors. While engaging them on-site, we emphasized the need to fast-track project execution, given the strategic importance of these roads in ensuring seamless connectivity between the Northern and Southern parts of the country. Contractors were also encouraged to collaborate closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps and relevant security agencies to guarantee smooth traffic flow and the safety of commuters during construction.
The Federal Government remains committed to transforming Nigeria’s road infrastructure through transparency, accountability, and sustained monitoring. These projects, when completed, will significantly enhance economic activities, improve road safety, and strengthen national integration, reaffirming the administration’s resolve to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
