The Presidential Community Engagement Team today paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary and top management of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. The visit aimed to foster collaboration between the Ministry and the Presidential Engagement team to address the pressing health challenges faced by underserved communities across the country.
During the meeting, we highlighted key findings from our extensive grassroots engagements, emphasizing critical healthcare gaps, including access to primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and other essential medical interventions. The discussion centered on how the Ministry and the engagement team can work together to implement data-driven policies, enhance community-based healthcare initiatives, and ensure that government health programmes reach the most vulnerable populations effectively.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary highlighted key initiatives the Ministry has undertaken in alignment with the President’s vision for the health sector. These include the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme, which will engage young Nigerian fellows in all 774 local government areas; the revitalization, upgrading, and equipping of Federal Tertiary Hospitals to enhance specialized care.
We both expressed our commitment to strengthening synergies that align with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope agenda, ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of location or social status, has access to quality healthcare services.
